It is that time of year where we nominate officers for the SWE Memphis section per our Bylaws for the next SWE fiscal year (2019). You may nominate yourself or another SWE member for one or more roles.

Upcoming events and volunteer opportunities:
- Professional Development, Friday April 13 TODAY: The Women's Leadership Conference at CBU is sold out. If you already have a ticket, we look forward to seeing you there! SWE n Memphis members will be featured in a keynote (11:35 a.m.) and two panels (1:10 p.m. 3:10 p.m.). There will be a SWE Memphis group photo at 4:30 p.m. at the closing wine and hors d'oeuvres reception.This event is a great one-day conference with local speakers and thought leaders from many fields. https://www.cbu.edu/womens-leadership-conference
- Collegiate Engagement, Friday April 20: We are seeking volunteer judges for the third annual Collegiate Engineering Expo (SWECEE). Also, additional spots are available for student presenters: cash prizes! This event gives current engineering students presentation practice and an opportunity to showcase their research, design, or competition projects. Is your company recruiting? Come check out these driven students! All backgrounds and experiences welcome for volunteer judges (members or non-members, men or women). Still seeking additional corporate sponsors. Sign up here! Flyer attached.

Audience members and cheerleaders welcome, and we are also seeking volunteers (poster competition judges) and exhibitor sponsors (outreach focus - does your company have a cool robotics-related product or machine that would nspire students?). Sign up here to volunteer or contact info@swememphisrobotics.com for more information.

A hearty congratulations to Lauren Harrett Thorton who is the SWE Memphis Featured Engineer for 2018. Lauren received this award at the Memphis Joint Engineering Council's E-Week Kickoff Luncheon on February 14th. She was nominated for "Exemplary Service and Leadership during her term as 2017 Collegiate Engagement Chair. Ms. Thornton provided selfless service and leadership to the Memphis Chapter. In her unswerving devotion to our organization, she founded collegiate events during our charter year that have become annual traditions to support our collegiate members." Thank you, Lauren!

Helene Rynczak, our current Chair, has accepted a new job in Nashville. We wish her well and would like to thank her for her contributions to the section!
