It is time to elect your SWE Memphis Executive Officers for FY20!! You must be a paid SWE member to vote and the deadline is Wed. June 19, 2019! If you are paid SWE Member, but did not receive an email to vote, send an email to secretary.memphis@swe.org.
It's that time of year where we nominate next year's (Fiscal Year 2020) Leadership Team for the SWE Memphis section! The Leadership Team is comprised of the Executive Council plus a number of Committee Chairs, Liaisons, and Managers. Being a member of a SWE section leadership team is an excellent way to grow your leadership competency and meet people within the section. The FY20 Leadership Team serves from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020. All leaders in the organization must be paid SWE Memphis members by the time their terms start.
Have you wanted to get more involved in SWE Memphis, but aren't sure how? Self-nominations are encouraged, and a description of all of the leadership positions can be found here (click to follow link). Certain positions are ideal for anyone from brand new graduate through experienced professionals, while others are more ideal for seasoned SWE members - the roles and responsibilities are described in detail so you can better understand how your skill sets matches with the Section's needs.
To nominate yourself, a colleague, or a friend for a SWE Memphis leadership position, please complete the following form: https://forms.gle/j6ujFQvmLHhZiWQV9

Here's how the SWE Memphis election process works:
- Nominations for all positions will be accepted through Friday, May 28th
- All nominees for elected positions (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary) will subsequently be contacted to confirm they wish to be on the ballot. A short biography and statement of intent will be requested to better inform voters.
- An election ballot will be sent out in early June to paid SWE Members only, through mid-June
- The elected officers will use the nomination survey entries to appoint leaders for the non-elected positions
Come out of your shell and join SWE Memphis for a concert at Levitt Shell! Bring your family, friends and chairs. We’ll save you a spot! Jenny & the Mexicats will be performing. The concert will start at 7:30 PM but come mingle beforehand with everyone!
The SWE Memphis leadership team will get there early to grab a spot for everyone on the lawn. Once we're there, we'll update y'all on our location. We're also encouraging members to wear their purple SWE polo shirts so be on the lookout! Please RSVP so we know how much room to save.
There's free parking in Overton Park and on the street in the surrounding neighborhoods (off of Poplar and North McLean). Parking in the area can get messy so please arrive 30-45 mins before the concert to find a spot.
If the weather gets particularly stormy or icky, we may plan to meet up for the Sunday concert instead. If there's a change of plans, we'll make sure to update y'all a few hours before the event.
We hope to see everyone there!
